Monday: Challenge Week 2

DO LIFE CHALLENGE

*Week Two*

January 8-14

THIS WEEK'S NEW CHALLENGES:

(1) Do something out of the ordinary for a stranger this week 2X.

(Do something selfless to make a stranger's day, twice.)

This is so easy! I say nice things to strangers all the time by accident... I will definitely give specifics here though, when they happen.

(2) Push up count!

I will aim for more this week, maybe 20 - 25.

(3) Reassess month goals.

1. Exercise 4 to 5 times per week: a total work in progress and maybe the most difficult aspect of my challenge.  I need to plan sh*t out if I want to make it happen - make an exercise schedule of some sort.  I want to take walks, use my yoga gift certificate and maybe purchase a gym membership soon (finances pending).  I have been doing yoga at home with my videos so far, which rocks, but I am ready to step-it-up.

2. Cook at least 3 healthful meals: this is actually coming along now.

Today I made banana bread cookies.  I used cashews, agave, pumpkin seeds, sea salt and banana. I processed them together, adding water to help things mix and then placed them on my dehydrator.  They should be done in a couple of days:

And Friday night (before we headed to see my beautiful niece), I put together a veggie burger meal at home using a premade, frozen patty I purchased from the health food store.  I placed some greens, tomato, kale chip crunchies and avocado on top of the warmed sunshine burger (all natural and minimally processed) and it tasted fantastic:

In addition to making meals for myself and keeping them super healthy, I have continued to keep Violet's diet as healthy as I can.  She is a very good eater, not as picky as some children can be, and for that I am so grateful!  She eats tons of veggies and fruits which is so awesome.  Today I made her some organic, cage free eggies, refried beans and blackberries on the side:

3. Read at least one GRE/Graduate School related book: this is going swimmingly.

I am reading general Graduate School handbooks while also perusing GRE help books, like this one here:

4. Juice 6 out of 7 days: yuppers!

5. Apply to at least one job opportunity per week: again, doing great here.

(4) Add 30 minutes to weekly workout time!

Yikes, that's 150 minutes minimum now.

This will be my biggest challenge by far!

(5) Write FOUR things I did right each day.

Today...
1. I juiced!  And steered clear of all the processed goodies we have stashed in the apartment cupboards.
2. I bought Violet a new bike, a UNICORN-themed bike, despite wanting to spend that precious money on myself in some way.  I just had to, it was the coolest thing and I knew she would love it.  (And she does!).

Just look how adorable this bike is!

3. I did my laundry even though I really didn't feel like it. :)
4. I searched for job opportunities today, again, even though I most certainly did not feel like it.

Homework! Questions to answer in this thread before Submission Day:
1. Tell a story of how someone went out of their way and changed your day.

My friend MCB from work took me out to lunch on Friday, which was SO AWESOME.  We indulged at one of my favorite local spots.  Mmmm veggie burger heaven.. Thanks M!  It definitely made my day.  She is not only a very special friend of mine, she is also a very wonderful person (and one of my few blog followers).
2. Where are you right now physically? Where do you want to be in 11 weeks?

Ugh, honestly I am not very well physically right now.  I *know* I am not where I *should* be at all.  I want to get my yoga groove back and I am anxious to put exercise back into my life.  Stress will not be my excuse anymore.  It is only hurting me to let other things become more important than my health.  At the end of this challenge I will be stronger in every way.
3. What area of your life from last week can you improve on this week? Food? Exercise? Family? Career?

I think I can improve on everything this week: food, exercise, family AND career.  I can only get better with determination.  It may take a lot of work but they don't call it a "challenge" for nothing.
