Monday

Violet's best friend gave her the sweetest note the other day.  I just HAVE to share it!!

It reads:

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Cheesecake is sweet
but not as sweet as you.

Monday

This weekend I saw the cutest picture of my baby nephew on Facebook.  After ohhh-ing and awww-ing, it gave me the idea to post a photo of Violet sleeping.  I mean, I know she isn't quite as cute as a baby anymore, but she is still so darn cute anyways.  Beautiful actually.

So I took a picture of her sleeping.

We have been spending a lot of time together these past few weeks which has been so ULTIMATE!  I feel like we have sort of re-bonded in so many ways.  I know I have to work and "that's life" but getting to have extra time with her while not working full time has been a major blessing.  I know I do not take a moment for granted, even the times when we aren't doing anything at all, just hanging out.  Every moment is so special.

I am kind of not sure what's up in general, you know, with my career (ha as if I even have one!) and money and relationships and everything else... but I am so sure that I am doing the right thing as far as Motherhood is concerned.  Violet always comes first.  ALWAYS.  I never screw around when it comes to her safety or well being (what mother would?).  I am honest and upfront with her which is SO important.  Even though I am a little screwy, I would rather her know what is happening in my life and hers, than to live a lie.  I hope by example, she grows to be able to express herself to me this way too. 

I continue to be honored and awed by her uniqueness and intelligence and outright awesomeness every single day.  I am so thankful for it.

Saturday: Best Friends

Violet and I shared a play date with her best friend Noa today.

 

We met at a local children's science museum.

 

It was awesome!

 



Wednesday

The health issues of my elderly kitty, Owen, still present new challenges all of the time.

The other day he was shaking uncontrollably.

I used a heating pad to warm him and it seemed to help a lot.  Right now he is feeling pretty good, I think.  He is eating well and being very loving.  

My hope is to keep him going as long as possible.  I really love him very much.  He brings us all so much happiness and laughter too.

Wednesday

Beautiful late winter days here in New Hampshire have Violet and I craving springtime, big time!

Sunday

Grammy and Grampy (the 'rents!) took us to the Planetarium today.

It changed a lot since I visited as a child, many years ago.

It was really cool though and had lots of interactive exhibits that we all found very interesting and informative. 

Violet loves the stars and planets and especially JUPITER!

We enjoyed it very much.

 

Friday

It has been a while since I've had a rough morning at school drop-off with Violet.

This kind of happened gradually and without my notice.  The bad mornings became lesser and the good ones are now the norm.
This doesn't take away from how awful it was for us all of those months.  It was traumatic and I won't forget it, ever.  But I am so happy that Violet has finally embraced the parts of school that make it better for her.  Having her friends has to be the #1 reason she turned the corner and I am so thankful for them every day.

Recently I finished applying to a small charter school in our town, for Violet's first year of elementary school.  I am really excited for this opportunity.  I LOVE the fact that I researched and made the important effort to again, find the best situation for my girl.  I feel that she will be "OK" in regular public school but I know she would do better in a smaller classroom.  I cross my fingers for her enrollment, which we will know early next month.

I am trying my best to give her stability, a supportive learning situation and a happy, healthy weekly schedule.  I want to do everything in my power to make her experiences awesome and DAMN is it hard sometimes, but I am out here trying like hell.

 

Friday

Another snow day here in New Hampshire gave Violet and I extra time together.

 

We had a really nice day.

 

We all woke up super late this morn'!  Good thing it was a snow day.

We built another snow kitty...

And gave him a special collar.

Owen and Chloe Kitties watched us from inside.. can you see them peeking out?

Thursday

Violet is a wonderful little artist and her creativity impresses me all the time.

Tuesday

On Sunday my sister and her hubby invited us to swim with them at a local resort, where they have a pool membership.

She loves this place so much!!

We actually stayed over an hour later than my sister and her family.  Violet did NOT want to leave! And she is such an awesome little swimmer.  Her weekly swim lessons have really paid off and she is a better swimmer than me for sure.  She dips down the adult waterslide and swims in the deep end like a pro!
