Now that my little family is "different", meaning Violet's Daddy and I live apart, sometimes the conversations Violet and I share about such things are tricky.

I try and be as upfront and honest with her as possible given the appropriateness of things.  Of course some topics or situations are difficult to define or are beyond her comprehension at present.

The subject of new Mommy/Daddy boyfriends/girlfriends has come up at times.  It is funny to navigate such things but I do with a quiet sense of humor.

One such conversation regarding her Daddy came about in the car the other night:

Violet: Mommy, when will Daddy have a new girlfriend?
Me: I don't know Hon, probably soon.
Violet: I want her to be my Stepmother.
Me: Okay, well she could be someday, I guess.
Violet: I want her to have long hair. (Note that MY hair is very short).
Me: Okay.
Violet: I am so excited for a Stepmother!

We are quiet for while...

Violet: Don't worry Mommy, I will always love you the most.
